Character List

Ponyboy Michael Curtis- Narrator and main character. Fourteen years old, and lives with his two brothers, Sodapop and Darrel.

Sodapop Patrick Curtis- Ponyboy's sixteen year old brother. He is a high school drop out, and a teenage heartthrob.

Darrel Shayne Curtis- Twenty years old, and also Ponyboy's brother. He is the legal guardian of both Ponyboy and Sodapop. He would have gone to college except he had to take on a parental role for his brothers.

Johnny Cade- Known as the gang's pet. He is smaller than the rest of the gang. He comes from an abusive home.

Dallas Dally Winston- Fellow greaser gang member. He is from New York City, and rougher than the other members. Though he is only seventeen, he has already done jail time.

Steven Randle- Sodapop's best friend

Keith Two-Bit Mathews- Eighteen years old, and still a junior in high school. He is the oldest in the gang. He is also known as the clown of the gang.

Sherry Cherry Valance- A cheerleader and ex-girlfriend of the soc, Bob, who is eventually killed. She becomes friends with Ponyboy, and a spy for the greasers.

Bob Sheldon- Soc that is attacked by Johnny, and later attacks Ponyboy and Johnny in the park. He is killed by Johnny when he attempts to drown Ponyboy.

Tim Shepard- A greaser, but not a member of the gang. He is part of the Future Convicts, and their gang is rougher then the greasers.

Randy Adderson- Bob's best friend, and a Soc.
